HELLO! Julieanne here, hope everyone is doing OK!

For those of you who don’t know me, I am the office manager at the Sunshine Fund.

This week I thought I’d introduce myself and tell you what I’ve been up to at the Sunshine Fund.

We have been busy organising our annual Go Bananas appeal, which is happening throughout June. We need to raise £50,000 to be able to help all the children that have asked for our support.

I have been looking at the equipment requests and we have been asked for many items, from trikes to sensory equipment.

I wanted to share one special request with you - £850 will provide a specialised chair to a boy of four who has cerebral palsy and other life threatening illnesses. The boy, who is from the Newcastle area, needs a a ‘P-Pod chair’ to keep him as comfortable as possible.

The P-Pod is similar to a bean bag but has added supports and is made to measure to meet the child’s needs. This is why it is so expensive.

The boy is constantly in a lot of pain and finds it really difficult to get rest and sleep. As he is getting older and bigger it is becoming harder to keep him in a comfortable position.

The P-Pod chair will give him the support he needs to be able to relax when at home.

We have many stories like this to tell you - this is why our work is so important and we would love it if you could help in any way. If you could get involved in our Go Bananas appeal by either donating or organising your own little fundraiser at work, at home or in your local community, please do get in touch so we can support you.

We had a busy week last week, holding an event at the Cobalt Business Park to get all the local businesses on board with a raffle. We had an excellent turn out and we hope everyone enjoyed it.

We would like to thank Amy Carroll and Tyler Patrick from Cobalt who helped in the organisation of the event and a huge big thank you to Stephanie Biskupek from the Village Hotel who provided the room, refreshments and canapés, and to the girls from the Spa situated in the hotel for the fantastic hand massages!

We had a great time!

Bye for now, and as I said earlier, please do get in touch if you can support us in any way. Have a great week!
