Hi, I hope you are all enjoying the lovely spring flowers and getting ready for the summer. Fingers crossed for the sunshine.

My hubby and I enjoyed a couple of lovely two-hour walks last weekend around Morpeth and Mitford and the coast, continuing practicing for our Petra Trek in October.

Unfortunately I am still struggling with my running practice, I have agreed to do my first Sunshine Run in June and at the moment I can only get to 20 minutes running. I am OK on the treadmill but struggle with outdoor running.

If anyone has any tips on how to overcome this, please let me know!

I am going to try the ‘This Morning 5k in five weeks’ run programme for non-runners so hopefully I get to enjoy it instead of feeling as though my chest is going to explode. I’ll let you know how I come on.

During our Go Bananas appeal throughout June we are hoping everyone in the North East will Wear Yellow on Friday, June 12.

Thanks to all the staff at intu Metro Centre, our appeal sponsors, who hunted out their yellow items for our photo shoot.

It’s amazing how everyone puts their own slant on it, from yellow cardigans to ties, they all looked fab.

It’s lovely to see the shops full of yellow clothing this year, from dresses and jumpers to bags and socks. I’m sure everyone can find something for Wear Yellow Day.

If everyone in the North East gave £1 we would have more than enough to buy all the equipment needed for the children we support, so please spread the word and lets make June 12 a real success.

We know there are companies and schools organising events at the moment so if you have something planned let me know so we can come along and take pictures to go in the paper.

We received a lovely picture last week of seven-year-old Daniel Buchanan from Berwick enjoying his new iPad we bought for him. His Dad told us he was so excited when he came in from school that he spent all night exploring all the different things he could do.

His teacher told us it will be invaluable for Daniel’s progress both in and out of school, with homework and communication in general.

Thanks to the generosity of our supporters children like Daniel can join in and communicate with their friends and at school without getting stressed and anxious.

I’m off to Close House on Sunday, courtesy of Cellular Solutions who have organised golf lessons for some of our children.

I hope the weather’s good and they all learn lots. Thanks to Mike Bowers from Cellular and the staff at Close House - here’s to a fun day.

Have a great week
