I HOPE you are enjoying October. The weather might be quite unseasonable, but it is definitely autumn.
What a lovely night we had at Fat Buddha this week to officially launch our 2015 Challenge to Petra, leaving on October 7, 2015.
There was lots of interest and lots of questions, from “What will the weather be like?” to “How will I raise the sponsorship money?” which the team from Skyline and the Sunshine Fund answered with confidence and the usual enthusiasm.
There are people signed up and already fundraising, so if you would like to join the team please sign up now to get to know them.
Thanks to everyone who is taking part. I know you will be challenged but I can assure you I am still reeling after my China experience. It is definitely worth it.
It looks like Petra is going to be as successful as our China Trek this year, with a group of people coming together to take on a personal challenge, fulfilling a dream and making a real difference to local disabled children’s lives.
Our Charity of the Year supporters Deloitte have just raised another £400 from a football tournament so a huge thank you to them for coming up with innovative ways to support through their staff, clients and suppliers.
Last Thursday they held a fabulous networking event at their offices in aid of the Sunshine Fund.
It was lovely to meet lots of lovely people while enjoying a glass of fizz and canapés and raising money for the children we support.
This week’s little superstar is a our gorgeous Ben, who’s eight. Despite having lots of operations, he is always cheery when I meet him.
He desperately needed a trike to help him get his leg muscles working after a recent operation. Also, his mam told me he likes going out with his big brother, which makes him feel grown up.
I am delighted to say, due to the kindness of our guests at the Down Toon Abbey ball, this is one of the items which will be on its way to help Ben in the next few weeks. Thanks again to everyone who gave so generously, especially our Sponsors ITPS.
We have another ever-popular comedy night at The Stand Newcastle on Monday 20th. If you would like tickets, please let me know as soon as possible as they’re going fast at only £5 - it’s a bargain! It’s always a hilarious night but avoid the front row!
Lastly, let me remind you if you haven’t already nominated someone for one of our Glass Slipper Awards to check out our website for details, give me a call or drop me an email.
The deadline is next week so you need to think who really deserves recognition for their efforts.
I was in tears this week watching the Pride of Britain awards.
I’m sure we have lots of local ladies who are doing amazing things too we need to be shouting about them.
So please, please, please nominate today.
