The search is on to find Tyneside’s most inspirational women.

The Glass Slipper Awards, which was officially launched at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead last week, will recognise outstanding women from the North East.

The Chronicle’s Sunshine Fund, the event organiser, is now calling on you to nominate the women who should be celebrated at our glittering awards ceremony on Friday February 27 at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead.

From women making a difference in the community to high-achievers in the world of business, we want to hear about them.

The awards categories include: Best Newcomer, Life Time Achievement, North East Champion, Women of the Year, Young Achiever, Outstanding Businesswomen and Women in the Community.

The event is sponsored by Gordon Brown Law Firm and Hilton Newcastle Gateshead.

Caroll Pattison, director of the Sunshine Fund, said: “It was a pleasure to launch our 2015 Glass Slipper Awards in such a fabulous setting as the Hilton Hotel last Thursday.

“Thank you to everyone who attended, previous award winners, mothers of children we have supported, our supporters, new supporters and of course our sponsors, Gordon Brown, Hilton Hotel, Helen McArdle Care, Intu Metrocentre and ncjMedia.

“As the awards are now open, I look forward to receiving a variety of nominations for all seven categories all celebrating local ladies.”

Amy White, from Gordon Brown Law Firm, said: “We at Gordon Brown Law Firm are delighted to return as sponsors of the Glass Slipper Awards for 2015 and to celebrate the inspiring women we have in the North East.

“The Sunshine Fund is a charity we strongly support and to be able to do so at such an amazing event is an honour. We look forward to seeing who is nominated and to be inspired further by them.”

Judge Angela Upex, who is commercial editor at ncjMedia, said: “During my career with The Chronicle, it has been my pleasure to meet the young people and their families the Sunshine Fund helps.

“The charity makes a huge difference to their lives and I am delighted to be a judge at the Glass Slipper Awards 2015 which supports the fund and honours women in the North East and their fantastic achievements.’’

Lynn Waterman, sales director at Hilton Worldwide, said: “After the success of The Sunshine Fund Glass Slipper Awards last year we are delighted to be sponsoring the event again in 2015 and I am even more delighted to be returning to the judging of the awards. Last year showcased how many inspiring women we have in the North East and I very much look forward to learning about more.”

Caroline Mackenzie from Helen McArdle, said: “I am delighted be part of the judging panel for the Glass Slipper Awards; working for Helen McArdle I feel I have experienced first-hand the great work that women in business do in the North East and I believe that they deserve recognition for their achievements.
