Runners have their day in the Sunshine

HUNDREDS of runners took to the Newcastle and Gateshead quayside to raise money for The Chronicle’s Sunshine Fund. Over 300 men and women took part in the annual Sunshine Run, which raises money for the fund’s work providing specialised equipment to children with disabilities in the North East. The 5km course started outside the Pitcher and Piano in Newcastle and ended outside the Baltic in Gateshead. Teams from local businesses and individuals were competing. Legal Eagle goes for Banana Look

WHEN the Sunshine Fund asked its supporters to Go Bananas, Phil King took the challenge literally. The paralegal for Irwin Mitchell Solicitors recruited his son and his son’s pals to walk 12 miles of Hadrian’s Wall - dressed as bananas. And Phil, 54, joined by his son Tom and friends Joe Chidlow and Issac Waters, have raised £250 so far after the walk. Our run is a thanks to charity for helping Ben

FAMILY fundraisers will be taking on a 13.1 mile challenge to help the charity that provided a lifeline to youngster Benjamin Friedrichsen. The 14-year-old, from Chester-le-Street, County Durham, was able to buy an adapted trike thanks to a grant from the Chronicle Sunshine Fund which made a huge difference to his life.
