I DID warn you last week that I would be talking about Christmas. Apologies if you think it’s too soon, but I would like you to think about joining us in a North East celebration.

I would like you all to join our Christmas Jumper Day on Friday, December 12, when we want you to wear your Christmas jumpers with pride and donate £2 to help the children we support.

You don’t need to buy a jumper – you could customise something you already have. We would also like you to send your pictures to us via facebook, twitter, email or by post and there will be a prize for the best ones.

We have a few companies signed up already but I would love it if your local school, club or pub would like to join in the fun. Wouldn’t it be fab if all the North East were wearing Christmas jumpers on the 12th, from Pam reading the news to Darren our Editor! It would certainly put a smile on my face and raise lots of money for our special children.

I spoke to a lovely gentleman this week whose son has recently had an operation on his eyes to correct a sight problem. He was telling me about a piece of equipment which will help his son recognise different colours and shapes. This would make a huge difference to the family’s life and for £400 we are delighted to be able to supply it to him.

I am so proud to be from the North East – thank you to everyone who has sent in a donation this month, this is what your money has bought.

It’s our Comedy Night at The Stand Newcastle this Monday, October 20, with Steffen Peddie and Gavin Webster who are hilarious, for only £5! So if you are looking for a fun night, give me a call on 0191201 6289 to book your tickets – there are only a few left.

Thank you to everyone who has nominated inspirational local ladies for one of our Glass Slipper Awards. There are some amazing stories coming in. If you haven’t already, check out our website for details, give me a call or drop me an email as entries close next week.

I’m off to a celebration event tonight for all our China trekkers who have raised over £10,000 which is amazing so a huge thank you to everyone who supported us. Also thank you to Wendy and Amy from Gordon Brown for organising the night which will end a year of fundraising events. It will be good to catch up with everyone and share our photos and memories.

Our Petra trek for October 2015 is going really well, we hope to have 10 people signed up by Christmas.

I hope you have a good weekend, the weather forecast is looking good, I feel a walk coming on!

Take care,
