Best Newcomer: Sponsored by Intu Metro Centre 

Recognises the work and achievement of either an individual or business that has been in their chosen role or existence for two years. The individual nominee will have made an exceptional contribution and made a significant impact in the local community or their organisation, going above and beyond what would normally be expected of the role and becoming a role model for others. The business nominee will have shown exceptional promise in the initial stages of its development and demonstrated initiative, enterprise and outstanding commitment. They will have made a significant impact on the industry they operate within or the local community.

Best Marketing Campaign: Sponsored by Gordon Brown Law Firm 

This award will be made for a specific marketing campaign in the period 1st of January 2013 to 31st of December 2013 that operated within a £5000 budget. The judges will look for innovation and a clearly expressed and articulated objective-led campaign strategy. Entrants will demonstrate how their marketing campaign has effectively improved business performance and results. With the current trading conditions, judges will look for businesses that managed to market their business on a budget. The judges will be looking for the company to have successfully delivered a campaign or initiative promoting a product/service/business and including one of the following:

  • A fully co-ordinated campaign;
  • A pioneering or creative marketing initiative;
  • A creative concept used in individual media (eg advertising, marketing, website).

Employee of the Year: Sponsored by Hilton Newcastle Gateshead

This award recognises an outstanding employee who is productive, exhibits commitment to quality in carrying out job responsibilities and is an asset to their organisation. They are willing to take initiative and accept and carry out additional responsibilities beyond their regular job responsibilities. They portray a positive attitude towards work, co-workers and serve as a role model for others.

Lifetime Achievement Award: Sponsored by Gordon Brown Law Firm

The Lifetime Achievement Award salutes the work of a remarkable woman who, over her lifetime, has made a considerable and lasting contribution to the North East by her actions, deeds, and great accomplishments. The award is given to recipients who are passionate and who have dedicated their lives to business, a worthy cause, or somehow made an impact in society or in the lives of others. They are more than your average “super women”.

This award recognises and celebrates the achievements of a great company or talented individual that does genuinely inspiring things in the North East. The North East Champion is a business, organisation or individual making a real difference by increasing the competitiveness and ensuing the North East maintains its position as one of the UK’s leading cities.

Open to those aged 16 - 25 years. This award seeks out the Young Achiever - the person who has shown outstanding achievement in their field. The winner will clearly demonstrate their excellent career progression, leadership and management. They will have excellent potential to succeed in the longer term with a well-defined and innovative vision for the future.
