28 Jul Julieanne’s Column Thursday 28th July
Hi, Julieanne here from The Sunshine Fund – it’s my turn this week to let you know what I have been up to, so here goes!
As you all may know we have our trek in October round the Grand Canyon.
We have 19 ladies from the North East all taking part to raise much- needed funds for children with disabilities in the area.
Each day we have to trek 10 miles, so over the last few weeks I have been doing plenty of walking to build up my stamina.
It seems to be going really well and I cannot wait to get there to see how I do. I am terrified of heights, so that is my biggest challenge!
Next year we are trekking in Iceland in July, and we are already looking to register people, so if this is something that you might be interested in please email firstname.lastname@example.org and we will send you details.
This week we are all busy in the office. We have Paul with us for three months on a secondment from John Lewis, and he is fitting in really well!
Paul is here to work with families and organisations in the area that might benefit from our work.
To find out more how we can help you, visit our website www.sunshine-fund.org
Our next meeting to look at requests for equipment is in September, so if you are thinking of applying please can you get all the information to us by Friday 9th September. If you need to discuss anything, please call us on 0191 201 6090.
We would like to say a huge big thank you to Community Foundation in Durham, for several years now they have supported our work by funding equipment to children that live in their catchment area.
This then frees up our funding for children in the Newcastle, Northumberland and Tyneside area, so thank you, great teamwork!
As always we welcome any donation to help us to continue with our work – you can send a cheque made payable to The Chronicle Sunshine Fund and address it to: Groat Market, Newcastle NE1 1ED, bring cash to the reception desk at ncjMedia or call us and we can take a payment over the phone on 0191 201 6090.
Take care and have a good week!
