19 Aug Julieanne’s Column Friday 19th August
Julieanne here again this week, busy busy in The Sunshine Fund office and it’s only nine weeks till our trek to the Grand Canyon, I am very excited.
There are 19 of us taking the challenge, everyone is doing so well with their fundraising, all the money goes directly to children with disabilities in the North East area.
One of our fellow trekkers is Michelle Charlton and her nephew’s son has recently raised £101.48 towards her target.
Harry Stephen Harkness who’s just five and from Chester-le-Street took it upon himself to bake cup cakes and sell them in his mum’s wedding cake shop, BouCakes, to customers that popped in. We think this is great, thank you so much Harry!
We still have a few events happening over the next few weeks to raise the last of the money we need. Afternoon Tea at The Hilton Newcastle Gateshead Hotel on Friday, September 16, is priced £21 a person and that includes tea or a coffee and a glass of sparkling wine. If you would like tickets, email me at firstname.lastname@example.org
This week I have been meeting and talking to lots of families that need support from us, children that need items such as trikes, sensory equipment and iPads to help them to talk. We hope that over the next few months we will be able to support them, but as always we need your help!
So any donations or support is always welcome.
Are you a local business? If you would like to do some fundraising in your work place, please get in touch, things like this make a huge big difference to our work.
You could organise a bake sale, or go a step further and organise a bigger event such as a golf day or a sponsored event. If you’d like to chat things through please email me.
