WOW – what a week I have had with the launch of our Go Bananas Appeal in the paper.

I have been inundated with requests for support from more families who need our help, information on how to get involved, plus offers of support including cash and cheques which is fab. It all kicked off on Saturday when I had the pleasure of joining families at the Busy Bees Nursery on Cobalt Business Park for the official Go Bananas launch which was a Chimps Picnic.

The children were excited, many in fancy dress and once they got over the shock of having a human banana and monkey amongst them they had great fun looking for clues around the Cobalt nature reserve. Thanks to everyone who had fun, took part and raised sponsorship money, especially the nursery staff who dressed up. My next Go Bananas event was a completely different fundraiser. I attended a very enjoyable Marta Vine Wine Tasting event at As You Like It. Everyone had lots of fun whilst raising money – what could be better! There is still time to enter our Sunshine Run on the Quayside on Wednesday June 26. Contact [email protected] to receive your free T-shirt.

Gordon Brown Law Firm has organised a fabulous exclusive lunch and fashion show in association with logonstyle.com at Babucho restaurant on the Quayside for Go Bananas on Thursday, June 20 tickets are available but going fast. I met a lovely couple who’s son needs around-the-clock care, is peg fed and has spent more time in hospital than out, but despite all that they were cheerful and positive and enjoying time out with their son. Charlie is a lovely little boy who desperately needs a specialist chair to assist his posture and keep him comfortable. I meet families like Charlie’s all the time and that’s why I am so passionate about the charity as I

know how much we can help and support them. A huge thank you to everyone who has supported the appeal to date, every little helps so please keep the money coming in so we can smash our target and show everyone how generous and caring the people from the North East really are. I hope your week goes well, I will be back next week with an update on the appeal. Best wishes, Caroll.
