06 Jan Caroll’s Column Thursday 17th December 2015
Hi, wow can you believe a week today will be Christmas eve, it’s so exciting. I hope you are enjoying all the preparations and parties.
It’s great to be back and catching up on all the fabulous fundraising and family events that have been going on while I was away.
Julieanne’s highlight was introducing children to Northumbria Water staff who have supported us throughout the year.
Rebecca loved taking the kids to the Tyne Theatre panto where the children joined in all the fun and got to meet the cast, oh yes they did!
Clare obviously had an amazing night at our Celebrity Question of Sport event which sounds like a fab fun night, raising nearly £20,000, but also loved taking some of our families to meet Santa Clause at As You Like it.
Congratulations to all the fabulous ladies who have been shortlisted for our Glass Slipper awards.
The full shortlist is now on our website where you will see a list of all the categories and the names of the lucky ladies who have been chosen to join us as our guests at the event on Friday 26th February at the Hilton Hotel.
If you would like to join us for this fabulous lunchtime celebration event it costs £50 which includes a welcome drink, lunch, inspirational speakers including Charlie Hardwick from Emmerdale, and a goody bag. It’s a lovely emotional fun event.
I enjoyed a fab day on Friday visiting some of the people taking part in our Christmas Jumper day. I saw so many different jumpers and Christmas outfits including a fab lady who had decorated herself as a Christmas tree with baubles on her body and a fairy on her head, tremendous.
Thank you to everyone who took part and raised lots of money for the kids, from Busy Bees Nursery where the kids looked so cute to a retirement home where they all dressed up and had a good old-fashioned party with mince pies and a sing-a-long.
There is still time to hold a Christmas jumper party, we would be very grateful of any money you can raise to buy equipment for local disabled children.
It was lovely to introduce twins we have recently supported to staff at Meldrum construction to show them where some of this year’s fundraised money went.
The all-terrain buggies we supplied them will help the family get the children out and about together on walks in the countryside where they struggled to go with normal buggies.
The twins are very special children who have lots of medical issues who need care 24/7, so this gives the lovely family a well-deserved break.
I have a couple of Christmas parties this week which I’m looking forward to, plus one of my favourite events of the year, the Hadrian School Christmas Service.
There won’t be a dry eye in the school – it’s fabulous to see all the children and staff taking part. I usually can’t help joining in the songs, hankies at the ready!
The fabulous As You Like It Santa’s grotto is every Sunday in December and 21st to 24th 12-4
Enjoy the run up to the big day, Season’s Greetings, Caroll.
