Hi, isn’t it nice to have a taste of summer? Everyone seems so happy when the sun shines. Hope you are making the most of it and avoiding the showers.

My thank you this week goes to Helen from Katherine’s Florist who we met with this week and is again supplying the flowers for our ball at the Marriott Gosforth Park. She is such an inspirational lady with an amazing talent in floristry and just knows what works.

I always look forward to seeing the flowers on the day and of course dancing with her on the night time. Thanks Helen for all your support of the Sunshine Fund, it is much appreciated and means the money we save on flowers and actually make on selling the prize ones at the ball, means we can buy lots more specialist equipment for the children we support.

We are putting the final touches to the ball now and it’s going to be one of our best yet, packed with entertainment, surprises and fun. Thank you to my lovely mother for helping me choose my dress on Saturday we had so much fun.

I went for a lovely long purple number with a few sparkles which fits in with the Arabian Nights colour scheme. I always love seeing the lovely outfits on the night, I know some people are going all out Arabian, so it should be fun.

Our Kerala trek is flying, we have 10 people booked on already so only another 10 to go. We are planning an information night in September with Amar the Traveleyes owner paying us a visit to discuss the trek, an inspirational blind guy who loves Kerala.

If you would like more information on the trek or the information night speak to Lauren on 0191 2016090 as we are limited to 20 trekkers and I think this one is going to be full pretty soon.

The scenery looks amazing, the challenge will be real, plus you get to guide blind people on the challenge explaining the scenery as you go which is a very different experience, making you think in more detail about colour and perspective.

A shout out to anyone who is doing the GNR, we have around 80 runners who are currently training and raising money for us so thank you to you all for supporting the kids, I hope it’s all going well.

If anyone has their own place and would like to raise a little money to buy equipment for local children with disabilities please get in touch for sponsor forms or advice. We would really appreciate your support plus we have a marquee at the finish where you could come and meet your family and friends and enjoy a much deserved massage.

There is always a great atmosphere as the runners are on cloud nine from the whole experience.

It has been a bit quiet in the office this week as I think many of our supporters and families are on holiday and spending summer time with their kids.

So we have been catching up and planning, it’s lovely to have some thinking time after the full-on Go bananas appeal.

We have been asked by a local special school if we can buy them some equipment to help their kids with rebound therapy, so Lauren and I are meeting with them in September to see how the children will benefit from the equipment.

I will be telling you more about it and hopefully asking if you can help us give these kids treatment that will make them feel so much better and help them move easier in their daily life.

We are coming up with ideas on how you can help, but if you can have a think of how you could raise some money before Christmas that would be amazing. I will be putting on a personal afternoon tea event courtesy of the Hilton in October which I am currently putting the finishing touches to, so something to look forward to in the autumn, watch this space for further details.

I’m off on a family holiday to Spain tomorrow so Rachel and Rebecca will be sharing their thoughts with you over the next couple of weeks. I’ll be back in September all refreshed and raring to go. Have a lovely Bank Holiday weekend, fingers crossed for the weather.

Take care
