Wow, wow and wow, we did it! Our Go Bananas appeal has reached its target, which is amazing.
Thank you so, so much to everyone who supported our appeal, raising more than £50,000 in June.
Due to your generosity this means we can now buy all the equipment for the children we wanted to support.
I have always been very proud to be from the North East and this proves to me just how kind and caring people really are. I hope you are proud too.
Thank yous also go to intu Eldon Square and Metrocentre, our sponsors, for all their support. They have been tremendous throughout the month.
Thanks also to the Sunshine Fund staff, who have worked tirelessly throughout the month.
It seems glamorous attending lots of glitzy events, and it is great fun, but we still need to get the work done, usually in the evenings and weekends. So thanks ladies – you’re all fundraising superstars.
We have really had a ball, from nursery toddles, fashion shows, wheelchair basketball, signed singers, afternoon teas and cake sales to the Sunshine Run itself.
Everywhere I went I was greeted with everything yellow and people dressed as bananas. The response has been incredible. Thank you to everyone who played a part by holding an event or donating. You have all helped us reach this incredible target.
I must pick out last weeks Sunshine Run as a highlight this year. Although we had a little rain, it didn’t dampen the runners’ spirits. The warm-up was hilarious, with lots of people dressed as or holding inflatable bananas. Anna Foster was fab motivating the runners.
I did it in 35 minutes, which was a personal best, and the feeling when I finished was brilliant.
Aysha, Harley and Max were in the crowd with their families, which was lovely, especially as we all had completed a personal challenge and raised money to help these wonderful kids.
We are still getting donations into the office. A gentleman brought in £100 yesterday, which is incredible.
I can assure you all the children’s equipment has now been ordered. We should receive the laptops very quickly, but the wheelchairs which are specially made to fit individuals and their needs may take a little longer.
We will show you pictures as soon as they are available so you can see what your money has bought.
Little Thomas Scorer has his seating system already, which means he doesn’t need to be carried around all day or stuck in his buggy. He can sit comfortably supported when being fed and for play, making life easier, happier and, most importantly, safer for him.
