27 Jul Caroll’s Blog Thurs 21st July
I’ve just returned from a fabulous holiday – two weeks in the sun, refreshed and raring to go!!!
Thanks to the team of Julieanne and Clare for taking over while I was away, they have done an amazing job with lots of great fundraising – thanks ladies.
I was gutted to miss Cellular Solutions Golf day at Close House which I’m told was fab.
Thank you so much to Mike Bowers and the team at Cellular for their continued support, they are amazing. They raised a tremendous £3,000.
Also congratulations on 20 years in business guys and still going strong. Well done.
Another event I would have loved to attend was the re-opening of Northern Goldsmiths, who raised a staggering £10,000 for us on the night. I can’t wait to see inside the store, as it is such an iconic building in Newcastle.
Thanks to OPR and Northern Goldsmiths for all your support. I will be in soon to see what new sparklers take my fancy.
When I was on holiday I decided I wanted to do something more permanent to help the charity, so I have just completed my standing order for a monthly payment of £5.
It doesn’t seem much and I’m sure I won’t miss it but it will add up and make a difference to the Fund.
If we can get more people to sign up it will help us budget, allowing us to plan how many children we will be able to help.
If you would like to help please let me know. It was so simple, I just completed one short form and it was done.
All our Petra trekkers met on Tuesday for a presentation on what we will be doing on our five days trekking. It sounds really exciting, if not a little daunting when we hear about the eight hours hiking in baking heat and uneven terrain.
We were warned about the bugs and other dangers to look out for, but were also told how the scenery is amazing.
I am so excited I am going to up my training starting this weekend to walk up and down the sand dunes at Seaton Sluice. I hope the weather behaves.
We will all be finding out soon who we will be raising money for which will spur us on. I have already raised over £2,000, so I’m hoping to buy a walker or a trike so I can help a child to get around easier as I know how much I take for granted and now love walking.
Our 2016 Trek has now been launched. We are to trek the Grand Canyon, which looks like a fabulous experience although it will have its challenges as all treks do. It will be another life changing trip.
We have five people signed up but are looking for another 15, so if you are fit or want to get fit, meet some great new people, have an amazing experience to look forward to, give me a call.
Clare and I are off to a food tasting at the fabulous Marriott Gosforth Park hotel now to try out the food for our Night on Broadway ball in September.
It’s always great fun, with lots of discussion on whether people like beef or lamb, and how to cook their carrots. I always think we eat with our eyes first so its so important to look as good as it tastes.
Puds are my real passion and therefore we are so picky, so apologies to the chef now, you know what we are like. It’s a hard job but hey I don’t mind putting on a pound or two to make sure its perfect!
We are nearly sold out, with only a couple of tables left but if you would like to attend it’s £100 a ticket and will be a great experience.
I hope everyone is having lots of fun in the school holidays! Have a great week,
