18 Jun Caroll’s Blog Thurs 18th June
Wow, June is flying by – I can’t believe we are more than halfway through June and our GoBananas appeal.
A huge thank you to everyone who has supported our appeal by donating and attending events; your support is much appreciated by both the team and the families we are helping.
The campaign is going really well. We have raised over £20,000 which means we have been able to buy half the children’s equipment, if you can please spread the word and help us with the other half, every £1 counts.
Our Dress Yellow Day on Friday was fabulous fun. Julieanne, who was dressed as a banana, and I were out and about delivering yellow cakes and bananas.
We got some strange looks walking through Eldon Square chatting as we went, not realising we were still in costume, but hey it’s all in a good cause.
Thank you so much to Northern Counties school for joining us at intu Metrocentre and Eldon Square for doing a couple of signing performances with deaf children. The kids were absolutely amazing and really got into it.
Also thanks to everyone who donated in our collection buckets, everyone was very generous and we all had great fun dancing along to the fab tunes.
Our comedy night on Monday was fun, thank you to the Stand, the comedians who give their time free and everyone who attended and joined in the fun. We raised over £400 which was great.
Clare and Rebecca attended the ITPS golf day which raised money for both the Sunshine Fund and Percy Hedley school. Thanks to ITPS for their continued support, you’re amazing.
We will be back to intu Metrocentre on Friday for our wheelchair basketball which should be not only a good laugh but also very competitive as we have four teams who really want to win the cup. Good luck to you all and thank you for raising money for us. Also thanks to Adam Parry from Percy Hedley Sports Academy for organising the event.
We chose the wheelchair basketball only to raise money and have fun but also to give our supporters a chance to experience being in a wheelchair which some of our children have to do throughout their lives. Fingers crossed we raise enough money through our GoBananas appeal to buy the sports wheelchairs their children desperately need.
My training for our Sunshine Run is finished. Yeah, I can’t do any more, so fingers crossed I finish within 40 minutes which is my target. I will be joining over 300 runners on the quayside to run 5K so I hope the weather is good and everyone has a safe fun run.
Happy Father’s day to all you Dad’s out there, I hope you have a lovely day on Sunday. I will be spoiling my fabulous Dad David, who deserves lots of pampering.
Have fun and enjoy,
