11 Jun Caroll’s Blog Thurs 11th June 2015
HI, I hope you are enjoying the lovely June weather.
Our Go Bananas appeal is going really well. Thank you to everyone who has donated so far – we have raised over £13,000 which is amazing.
This means we have been able to buy a couple of pieces of equipment for the children, which we will feature in the paper next week so you can see what your money has bought.
A special thank you to the lovely generous people who have sent in individual anonymous donations this week. We have received £10, £50 and £55 cheques – your support really is appreciated.
Thank you so much also to everyone who has organised fundraising events for us – everything from bake sales and dress down days to summer fetes, but the wackiest must be our very own Julieanne. She decided to get dressed as a banana all day on Wednesday.
From getting on the Metro into work to attending our trustees meeting and then an exercise class, she was amazing and hopes to raise over £100 for the appeal. Nice one, Julieanne, you crazy lady!
We are holding our Wear Yellow Day tomorrow and I would like to see lots of people dressed in yellow, whether it’s a blouse, scarf, tie or all-out head to toe, and donate £2 to the appeal.
There is a bike up for grabs, kindly donated by M Steel Cycles, for the person who raises the most for Go Bananas during June.
I met a beautiful little boy on Friday called Nathan Hewitt who has quadriplegic cerebral palsy and needs a special seat, which we are hoping to get for him through the appeal.
He smiled and cuddled his toy flamingo throughout the photoshoot and his proud grandma told me they had just visited Flamingo Land.
She wanted me to say a special thank you to the theme park staff who had helped her and Nathan the day before and made the day so special for them.
I hope by the end of June we will be going back to visit Nathan with the seat he needs, which will help him sit safely and more comfortably when he’s out of his wheelchair.
We will be collecting donations at intu Metrocentre at 2pm today and intu Eldon Square at 11am tomorrow. Come along and see us.
I hope you have a fab week, make the most of the sunshine and Go Bananas!
