Hi folks,

How exciting is it now with Santa six sleeps away – yippee, bring on the celebrations.

I was so emotional this week when I visited Hadrian Special School for their Christmas carol assembly. The singing and signing of all my favourite carols was amazing, with all the children joining in when they could.

A huge thank you to Procter and Gamble. Due to their fabulous £20,000 donation we were able to help them with lots of specialist equipment to help the children in the school.

This year the school has had a huge increase in the number of severely disabled children in the autumn intake due to advancements in medical science and increases in the population.

The needs for specialist chairs, walkers and trikes for the children with many serious medical conditions and life-limiting diseases has more than doubled with no further funding available.

We also had a great time carol singing with the children in Intu Eldon Square on Tuesday, while collecting much-needed cash for more children needing our support.

Thank you to the school, the children, everyone who donated and most importantly the teachers and assistants who do an amazing job teaching and caring for these special children.

The Sunshine Fund China Trekkers met up again for the last time before Christmas to talk about our fundraising and training for our trip to walk the China Wall next September. The serious training for the challenge will be starting after Christmas.

I can’t wait to get fit by walking and hopefully lose a bit of weight too.

I hope your preparations are going well and you are all feeling festive and looking forward to all your celebrations.

I will be back next week to let you know how our panto visit goes – oh yes I will!

Season’s greetings,

Caroll
