09 Mar Caroll’s Blog Thurs 3rd March

Hi there!

So March has arrived, with lots of spring flowers popping up and Easter around the corner; let’s hope the temperature heats up soon.

Wow, our Glass Slipper awards last Friday were absolutely amazing.

What a lovely lady former Emmerdale actress Charlie Hardwick is. Our guest speaker brought her mother to the event and we talked over old times of playing in the back lanes in Wallsend – what memories.

Charlie’s speech about her life was inspirational and she was delighted to pose for photographs with many of the guests so a huge thank you to her for giving her time as I know she is a very busy lady. She was also taking part in the weekend’s Sunday for Sammy concert.

I would like to thank Hilton NewcastleGateshead, which hosted the awards, for all its support; Katherine’s Florists Ltd for the beautiful flowers, and Hay & Kilner Solicitors, which sponsored the event.

It was lovely to see how excited all the award winners were. It was such a fabulous celebration of North East ladies, from very successful new business leaders to long-term foster carers. They were all inspirational.

Another huge thank you goes to Debbie Clelland, whose daughter Abbie was helped by the Sunshine Fund.

She made an emotional speech about Abbie and the equipment she received while helps transfer her upstairs in their home.

It cost £5,000, which is a lot of money for one family so we were delighted to be able to buy it and to hear how much the stepper is befitting the whole family.

Talking of mothers, I would like to wish all you mothers a lovely day on Sunday. I hope you get spoiled rotten.

And I’d like to say Happy Mother’s Day to my own very special mother, Mavis. See you Sunday, Mam.

If you would like to help us with our fundraising or volunteering then please get in touch.

We are constantly being asked to buy specialist equipment for local children who have disabilities or life-limiting conditions, so if you can give time or money that would be great.

Have a lovely week everyone,
